Allocation Framework

How we select partner charities and distribute funds raised through the Red v Blue challenge.

Our Grant-Giving Model

Red v Blue raises funds through the Red v Blue challenge and allocates them to selected registered charities supporting emergency service personnel and their families.

We select one charity per emergency service — Police, Fire & Rescue, Ambulance, and NHS Frontline. Funds are allocated annually, either split equally or based on identified need.

We publish transparency each year on which charities were selected and how much each received.

Framework Details

The principles and processes that guide our grant allocation decisions.

Eligibility

Partner charities must be registered UK charities aligned to one of the four emergency services we support. We look for organisations with proven track records, strong governance, and a clear focus on supporting emergency service personnel and their families.

Number of Charities Supported

We select one partner charity per emergency service — Police, Fire & Rescue, Ambulance, and NHS Frontline. This focused approach ensures meaningful impact rather than spreading funds too thinly.

Allocation Frequency

Funds raised through the Red v Blue challenge are allocated annually. This gives us a full year of fundraising before making allocation decisions, and allows partner charities to plan effectively.

Allocation Method

Trustees decide each year whether to split funds equally between the four partner charities, or to weight allocations based on identified need. The decision is based on current circumstances, evidence of demand, and the advice of our partner organisations.

Annual Reporting & Transparency

Each year we publish a full breakdown of our allocations — which charities were selected and how much each received. This is made available on our website and in our annual return to the Charity Commission. We believe donors have a right to know exactly where their money goes.

Pre-First Year

Red v Blue is currently in its inaugural year. Partner charities have not yet been selected and no allocations have yet been made. All figures on this website are indicative until our first annual allocation is published. We will announce our selected partner charities and first allocation in due course.
